How long have you been at DeFrance?

Since the beginning when DeFrance was located in a small shop on North Eglin Parkway

How did you get into this?

I have been a flea market vendor since 1995. It originally started as a part time weekend job then expanded to markets at various locations in Alabama and Florida.

What do you like most about having a booth? 

Self employment is the main reason because then the only boss I have is the one I go home to. Also, you can fire and then re-hire yourself. 🙂

What do you gravitate towards? What draws your eye? 

A clean booth with interesting items.

What’s your dream find/sale?

To sell out!

What’s your greatest find/story? 

I got a great deal on a bunch of comic books once.

What’s your favorite fudge flavor at DeFrance?

Coffee

Do you have any advice for people thinking about getting a booth? 

Try and find your own niche.

Yesterday’s weather for our market was PERFECT! We couldn’t have asked for any better. We had some great vendors come out to display their items too!

As always, our Christmas Market did not disappoint this year. We had a chilly day but other than that it was another great market. The vendors that show up year after year always bring great items. We are already looking forward to next year!

Another vendor downsized and this allowed me to take a small part of their booth

What do you like most about having a booth? 

It is like an on-going garage sale and a great place to sell my artwork

What do you gravitate towards? What draws your eye? 

Well-kept booths with space to walk and not a lot of clutter

What’s your dream find/sale?

High end wine glasses

What’s your greatest find/story? 

Two small end tables from a fellow vendor’s booth that fit perfectly by my couch

Peanut Butter!

Do you have any advice for people thinking about getting a booth? 

Be persistent

Our first ever JunkFest is behind us! It was a blast seeing all kinds of things being sold out in the parking lot. Vendors had everything from furniture projects to reclaimed windows to crawfish boats named ‘Pedro’. Everyone had such a great time that we’re thinking of having JunkFest in the spring as well as the fall… stay tuned!

Everyone’s been working hard pulling out all their junk to sell! Make sure you stop by and dig through all the goodies! You never know what you may find… one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

November 1st – December 24th
Every year we accept donations for Sharing and Caring, P.A.W.S. and S.O.C.K.S. For every item brought in for donation you’ll receive an entry for our $100 DeFrance Gift Certificate. Bring as many donations as possible and stuff the raffle jar!

With our humid, sub tropical climate, it’s hard to tell when it’s fall… besides when the colors on the license plates change of course! Decorating your home in fall décor is the best way to feel like fall has arrived. Porsha’s picked out some super cute hand painted mason jars out of booth #23. Their fall colors are just perfect for this time of year!

Porsha was off today, but never fear – she has sent in a temporary replacement. And after an extensive vetting process, one substitute stood out amongst the rest… allow me to formally introduce Pierre! Pierre’s pick this week is booth #38’s handcrafted frames and art. Each one is unique and handmade. The vendor also does custom work!
